Researchers have developed a technology for producing bioactive carbon nanoparticles that exhibit antagonistic properties with respect to the structure of an atherosclerotic plaque. The nanoparticles are capable to penetrate into the plaque and change its structure. Currently, there is created a vascular stent with a biodegradable coating comprising the nanomaterial. The product can enter the market in 2017. There are 50-60 thousand stents’ implantations in Russia every year in the real needs of 600 thousand.
